Configure Standard Dialog Layout

Purpose: Understand how to configure a standard HTMLDialogLayout.

Task: Add an additional field to the Activity edit dialog layout to enable editing the name (Hint 1). Publish and open the web to see the changes (Hint 2).

Add an New Field to a Dialog Layout:

  1. Ensure that QualiWare is open and that you are in the Base Configuration
  2. Ensure that HTMLDialogLayout “Activity” is open
  3. Select HTMLDialogText “Breaks Down To” and delete it
  4. Select HTMLDialogField “BreaksDownTo” and delete it
  5. Resize the dialog and rearrange the fields to make space for an additional field at the top
  6. In the symbol panel on the right, click on HTMLDialogText
  7. Place a HTMLDialogText on the canvas and name it “Name:”
  8. In the symbol panel on the right, click on HTMLDialogField
  9. Place a HTMLDialogField on the canvas, select “Edit line” from the pop-up menu, and name it “Name”
  10. Open the property dialog for HTMLDialogField “Name”
  11. In the property dialog for HTMLDialogField “Name”, for the field “Prompt” insert HTMLDialogText “Name:”
  12.  For the checkbox “Mandatory”, ensure that it is checked
  13. In the property dialog for HTMLDialogField “Name” click OK to save your changes and close the dialog
  14. For the diagram HTMLDialogLayout “Activity” use the shortcut CTRL+S to save the diagram

Publish and See the Changes:

  1. Right-click on an empty space and click “Properties…” to open the property dialog for HTMLDialogLayout “Activity”
  2. In the property dialog of HTMLDialogLayout “Activity” click on the button “Generate HTML Layout”
  3. Open the web front-end
  4. Click “My Menu”->”Activity Overview”
  5. The HTMLQueryResultView “Activity Overview” should open
  6. Click “My Menu”->”Activity Overview”
  7. The HTMLQueryResultView “Activity Overview” should open
  8. For the Activity “Control Driver’s License”, in the right-most column click “Edit”
  9. A web form should open with the field “Name:”
  10. Click “Cancel” to close the web form
The Name field should appear in the web form containing the name of the Activity.

Configure Dialog Layout Tabs

Purpose: Understand how to manage fields in a web-form via tabs in a HTMLDialogLayout.

Task: Create an additional dialog layout for Activities (Hint 1). Configure the new dialog layout as a sub-dialog (Hint 2) and add fields for Documents and Regulations (Hint 3). Publish and open the web to see the changes (Hint 4).

Create a New Dialog Layout:

  1. Ensure that QualiWare is open and that you are in the Base Configuration
  2. In the lower left corner, in the Repository Views, click on HTML to change the Repository View to only show web-related templates
  3. In the repository explorer, on the left, right-click on HTMLDialogLayout and click “New…” and name the new HTMLDialogLayout “Activity-DocumentsRegulations”

Configure the New Dialog Layout:

  1. Open the diagram HTMLDialogLayout “Activity-DocumentsRegulations”
  2. Right-click on an empty space and click “Properties…” to open the property dialog for HTMLDialogLayout “Activity-DocumentsRegulations”
  3. In the property dialog of HTMLDialogLayout “Activity-DocumentsRegulations” for the drop-down field “Template name” select “Activity”
  4. For the checkbox Main Dialog, ensure that it is unchecked
  5. For the field “Sub-dialog name” select “SubDocuments” from the drop-down menu
  6. For the field “Label” type in “Documents and Regulations”
  7. In the property dialog for HTMLDialogLayout “Activity-DocumentsRegulations” click Apply to save the changes without closing the dialog

Add the New Dialog Layout as a Sub Dialog:

  1. Open the property dialog for HTMLDialogLayout “Activity” and navigate to the tab “Sub dialogs”
  2. For the field “Sub dialogs” insert HTMLDialogLayout “Activity-DocumentsRegulations”
  3. In the property dialog for HTMLDialogLayout “Activity” click on the button “Generate HTML Layout”
  4. In the property dialog for HTMLDialogLayout “Activity” Apply to save the changes without closing the dialog

Add a Documents Field:

  1. Ensure that QualiWare is open and that you are in the Base Configuration
  2. Ensure that HTMLDialogLayout “Activity-DocumentsRegulations” is open
  3. Open the property dialog for HTMLDialogLayout “Activity-DocumentsRegulations”
  4. In the property dialog for HTMLDialogLayout “Activity-DocumentsRegulations” click on the button “Add Standard Dialog Layout” to automatically add the field for Associated Documents
  5. For the field Width input “700”
  6. For the field Height input “600”
  7. Click on the button “Set”
  8. In the property dialog for HTMLDialogLayout “Activity-DocumentsRegulations” click OK to save the changes and close the dialog

Add a Regulations Field and Rearrange the Dialogs:

  1. Ensure that HTMLDialogLayout “Activity-DocumentsRegulations” is open
  2. In the symbol panel on the right click on HTMLDialogText
  3. Place a HTMLDialogText on the canvas and name it “Regulations:”
  4. In the symbol panel on the right, click on HTMLDialogField
  5. Place a HTMLDialogField on the canvas, select “ListView” from the pop-up menu, and name it “ComplianceWith”
  6. Open the property dialog for HTMLDialogField “ComplianceWith”
  7. In the property dialog for HTMLDialogField “ComplianceWith”, for the field “Prompt” insert HTMLDialogText “Regulations:” and click OK to save your changes and close the dialog
  8. For the diagram HTMLDialogLayout “Activity-DocumentsRegulations” rearrange the fields to fit the size of the dialog
  9. For the diagram HTMLDialogLayout “Activity” use the shortcut CTRL+S to save the diagram

Publish and See the Changes:

  1. Open the property dialog for HTMLDialogLayout “Activity-DocumentsRegulations”
  2. In the property dialog of HTMLDialogLayout “Activity-DocumentsRegulations” click on the button “Generate HTML Layout”
  3. Open the property dialog for HTMLDialogLayout “Activity”
  4. In the property dialog of HTMLDialogLayout “Activity” click on the button “Generate HTML Layout”
  5. Open the web front-end
  6. Click “My Menu”->”Activity Overview”
  7. The HTMLQueryResultView “Activity Overview” should open
  8. Click “My Menu”->”Activity Overview”
  9. The HTMLQueryResultView “Activity Overview” should open
  10. For the Activity “Control Driver’s License”, in the right-most column click “Edit”
  11. A web form should open with the field “Name:”
  12. Click “Cancel” to close the web form
The web form for Activity now contains an additional tab containing fields for Documents and Regulations.

Create Standard Dialog Layout

Purpose: Understand how to create a new web-form for a specific template via a HTMLDialogLayout.

Task: Create a new dialog layout named “Activity” (Hint 1). Configure the dialog layout to use the standard layout and to apply to all Activities (Hint 2). Publish and open the web to see the changes (Hint 3).

Create a New Dialog Layout:

  1. Ensure that QualiWare is open and that you are in the Base Configuration
  2. In the lower left corner, in the Repository Views, click on HTML to change the Repository View to only show web-related templates
  3. In the repository explorer, on the left, right-click on HTMLDialogLayout and click “New…” and name the new HTMLDialogLayout “Activity”

Configure the New Dialog Layout:

  1. Open the diagram HTMLDialogLayout “Activity”
  2. Right-click on an empty space and click “Properties…” to open the property dialog for HTMLDialogLayout “Activity”
  3. In the property dialog of HTMLDialogLayout “Activity” for the drop-down field “Template name” select “Activity”
  4. Click on the button “Add Standard Dialog Layout”
  5. For the field Width input “700”

  7. Click on the button “Set”
  8. Click on the button “Add Standard Buttons”
  9. In the property dialog for HTMLDialogLayout “Activity” click Apply to save the changes without closing the dialog
  10. On the canvas of HTMLDialogLayout “Activity”, rearrange the fields in the dialog to fit the new size of the dialog
  11. Save the diagram with CTRL+S

Publish and See the Changes:

  1. Ensure that the property dialog for HTMLDialogLayout “Activity” is open
  2. In the property dialog of HTMLDialogLayout “Activity” click on the button “Generate HTML Layout”
  3. Open the web front-end
  4. Click “My Menu”->”Activity Overview”
  5. The HTMLQueryResultView “Activity Overview” should open
  6. For the Activity “Control Driver’s License”, in the right-most column click “Edit”
  7. A web-form should open
  8. Click “Cancel” to close the web-form
Activities now have a standard edit dialog.

Create New Content Tab

Purpose: Understand how to create a new content tab and configure it to show specific content via Template Definitions.

Task: Create a new content tab named “Documents” (Hint 1). Configure the content tab to show a documents content blog (Hint 2). Configure the Documents content blog to list documents and their properties (Hint 3). Open the web to see the changes (Hint 4).

Create a New Content Tab:

  1. Ensure that QualiWare is open and that you are in the Base Configuration
  2. Ensure that HTMLPublisher is open (otherwise use the shortcut CTRL+H to open it)
  3. In the property dialog for HTMLPublsher, navigate to the tab “Template Definitions”
  4. For the field “Template definitions” double-click on HTMLTemplateDefinition “Activity” to open its property dialog
  5. In the property dialog for HTMLTemplateDefinition “Activity” navigate to the tab “Center”
  6. For the big field, right-click and click “Insert…” to open the Repository Explorer dialog
  7. In the Repository Explorer dialog create a new HTMLContentTab named “Documents” and insert it into the field
  8. In the property dialog for HTMLTemplateDefinition “Activity”, click Apply to save the changes without closing the dialog

Clone a Content Blog:

  1. Ensure that the property dialog for HTMLTemplateDefinition “Activity” is open and navigated to the tab Center
  2. For the big field, double-click on HTMLContentTab “Documents” to open its property dialog
  3. In the property dialog for HTMLContentTab “Documents”, for the big field, right-click and click “Insert…” to open the Repository Explorer dialog
  4. In the Repository Explorer dialog, right-click on HTMLContentBlog “Comments” and click “Copy”
  5. Right-click on HTMLContentBlog “Comments”, click “Paste”, name the new HTMLContentBlog “Documents” and click OK to insert it into the field
  6. In the property dialog for HTMLContentTab “Documents”, click Apply to save the changes without closing the dialog
  7. In the property dialog for HTMLContentTab “Documents”, for the big field, double-click on HTMLContentBlog “Documents” to open its property dialog

Configure the Content Blog:

  1. In the HTMLContentBlog “Documents” property dialog, for the field “Relation type”, from the drop-down menu select “Links”
  2. For the field “Attribute”, type in “AssociatedDocument” (even though it is a drop-down field)
  3. For the field “Sort Order”, from the drop-down menu select “Name”
  4. For the big field, change the following parameters as follows:
    1. ResponsiblePrompt: Owner:
    2. ResponsilbeAttribute: OwnedBy
    3. StatusPrompt: Document ID:
    4. StatusAttribute: DocumentNumber
    5. ContentPrompt: Short description:
    6. ContentAttribute: ShortDescription
  5. For the big field, delete the following parameters:
    1. ShowProgress
    2. ShowProgressBar
    3. ProgressHeaderLabel
    4. ProgressOpenPrompt
    5. ProgressClosedPrompt
    6. ProgressClosedAttribute
    7. MaxWidth
  6. In the property dialog for HTMLContentBlog “Documents”, click Apply to save the changes without closing the dialog

See your changes on the web:

  1. Open the web front-end
  2. Click “My Menu”->”Activity Overview”
  3. The HTMLQueryResultView “Activity Overview” should open
  4. Click on Activity “Control Driver’s License”
  5. In the new window, on the tab “Documents”, ExternalDocument “Car Rental Agreement”, “Car Rental Insurance”, “QualiCar Booking Inquiry”, and “QualiCar Contract” should be visible
All the associated documents are now shown along with their details.

Configure Content Tab

Purpose: Understand how to configure existing content tabs via Template Definitions.

Task: Configure the Description content tab to show resources (Hint 1). Publish and open the web to see the changes (Hint 2).

  3. In the HTMLPublsher properties navigate to the tab “Template Definitions”
  4. For the field “Template definitions” double-click on HTMLTemplateDefinition “Activity” to open its property dialog
  5. In the property dialog for HTMLTemplateDefinition “Activity” navigate to the tab “Center”
  6. For the big field double-click on HTMLContentTab “Description” to open its property dialog
  7. In the property dialog for HTMLContentTab “Description” for the big field, right-click and click “Add Parameter”
  8. Define the new parameter as follows:
    1. Prompt: Resources:
    2. Attribute: Employs
    3. Format: List
  9. In the property dialog for HTMLContentTab “Description” click OK to save the changes and close the property dialog

Publish and See the Changes:

  1. Ensure that QualiWare is open and that you are in the Base Configuration
  2. Ensure that HTMLPublisher is open (otherwise use the shortcut CTRL+H to open it)
  3. Click the Publish button
  4. Open the web front-end
  5. Click “My Menu”->”Activity Overview”
  6. The HTMLQueryResultView “Activity Overview” should open
  7. Click on Activity “Control Driver’s License”
  8. In the new window, on the tab “Description”, Resources should be visible
Resources are now visible on the Description tab for Activities.

Create New Left Panel Content

Purpose: Understand how to create a new content box by cloning and configuring existing content boxes.

Task: Clone the Documents content box (Hint 1). Configure the content box to show position resources (Hint 2). Publish and open the web to see the changes (Hint 3).

  9. With HTLMContentBox “Resources” selected click OK to insert it in the field
  10. In the property dialog for HTMLTemplateDefinition “Activity” click Apply to save the changes without closing the property dialog

Configure a Content Box:

  1. Ensure that HTMLTemplateDefinition “Activity” navigated to the tab “Left” is open
  2. For the big field, double-click on HTMLContentBox “Resources” to open its property dialog
  3. In the property dialog for HTMLContentBox “Resources” for the field “Title”, empty the field and type in “Resources”
  4. For the field “Use Web Query”, empty the field and click on the + to open the Repository Explorer dialog
  5. In the Repository Explorer dialog, right-click on HTMLWebQuery “Model Documents” and click Copy
  6. Right-click on HTMLWebQuery “Model Documents” and click Paste and name the new HTMLWebQuery “Model Resources”
  7. With HTMLWebQuery “Model Resources” selected click OK to insert it in the field
  8. In the property dialog for HTMLContentBox “Resources” click Apply to to save the changes without closing the property dialog
  9. In the property dialog for HTMLContentBox “Resources” for the field “Use Web Query”, click on the + to open the property dialog for HTMLWebQuery “Model Resources”
  10. In the property dialog for HTMLWebQuery “Model Resources” configure the parameters as follows:
    1. Attribute: Employs
    2. TemplateFilter: Position
    3. Style: HyperLink
    4. RelationLinks,Contains
    5. RelationFilterBusinessProcess
    6. Level: 1
    7. Functionnull
  11. In the property dialog for HTMLWebQuery “Model Resources” click OK to save your changes and close the dialog

Publish and See the Changes:

  1. Ensure that QualiWare is open and that you are in the Base Configuration
  2. Ensure that HTMLPublisher is open (otherwise use the shortcut CTRL+H to open it)
  3. Click the Publish button
  4. Open the web front-end
  5. Click “My Menu”->”Activity Overview”
  6. The HTMLQueryResultView “Activity Overview” should open
  7. Click on Activity “Control Driver’s License”
  8. In the new window, on the left, HTMLContentBox “Resources” should be visible
  9. HTMLContentBox Resources should only be showing Position templates
The Resources content box has been added and it is only showing Positions.

Add Left Panel Content

Purpose: Understand how to add standard content boxes to the left panel via Template Definitions.

Task: Insert Documents and Regulations content boxes (Hint 1). Publish and open the web to see the changes (Hint 2).

  3. In the HTMLPublsher properties navigate to the tab “Template Definitions”
  4. For the field “Template definitions” double-click on HTMLTemplateDefinition “Activity” to open its property dialog
  5. In the property dialog for HTMLTemplateDefinition “Activity” navigate to the tab “Left”
  6. For the big field, right-click and click Insert…
  7. In the Repository Explorer dialog select HTMLContentBox “Documents” and HTMLContentBox “Regulations” and click OK to insert them into the field
  8. In the property dialog for HTMLTemplateDefinition “Activity” click Apply to save the changes without closing the property dialog

Publish and See the Changes:

  1. Ensure that QualiWare is open and that you are in the Base Configuration

  4. Open the web front-end

Documents and Regulations content boxes now appear on the left for Activities.

Create a Template Definition

The webpages, such as a page with info about a given Activity, can be configured by working with Template Definitions. To get going quickly, clone a existing template.

Purpose: Understand how to clone and repurpose an existing Template Definition.

Task: Clone the “BusinessProcesses” HTMLTemplateDefinition (Hint 1) and apply it to the template “Activity” (Hint 2). Change the click behavior for how Activities open (Hint 3). Publish and open the web to see the changes (Hint 4).

Clone a Template Definition:

  1. Ensure that QualiWare is open and that you are in the Base Configuration

  3. In the HTMLPublsher properties navigate to the tab “Template Definitions”
  4. For the field “Template definitions”, right-click and click “Insert…”
  5. In the Repository Explorer dialog, right-click on HTMLTemplateDefinition “BusinessProcess” and click Copy
  6. Right-click on HTMLTemplateDefinition “BusinessProcess” and click Paste, name the new HTMLTemplateDefinition “Activity” and press Enter
  7. Double-click on HTMLTemplateDefinition “Activity” to insert it into the field “Template definitions”
  8. Click Apply to save the changes without closing the HTMLPublisher

Apply the Template Definition to Activities:

  1. Ensure that HTMLPublisher is open, and navigated to the tab “Template Definitions”
  2. In the field “Template definitions” double-click on HTMLTemplateDefinition “Activity” to open its property dialog
  3. In the property dialog for HTMLTemplateDefinition “Activity”, for the field “Template”, specify “Activity” from the drop-down menu
  4. Click Apply to save the changes without closing the property dialog for HTMLTemplateDefinition “Activity”

Change Click Behavior for a Template Definition:

  1. Ensure that the property dialog for HTMLTemplateDefinition “Activity”
  2. In the property dialog for HTMLTemplateDefinition “Activity” navigate to the tab “Behavior”
  3. For the field “Target” select the radio button “New Window”
  4. Click Apply to save the changes without closing the property dialog for HTMLTemplateDefinition “Activity”

Publish and Test New Behavior:

  1. Ensure that HTMLPublisher is open (otherwise use the shortcut CTRL+H to open it)
  2. Click the Publish button
  3. Open the web front-end
  4. Click “My Menu”->”Activity Overview”
  5. The HTMLQueryResultView “Activity Overview” should open
  6. Click on Activity “Control Driver’s License”
  7. The properties of the Activity should open in a new window/tab in the browser
Clicking on an Activity now opens the properties of the Activity in a new window.

Make QRV Objects Expandable

Purpose: Understand how to add expanding functionality to a HTMLQueryResultView.

Task: Edit the properties of HTMLQueryResultView “Activity Overview” to show the Short Description when an Activity is expanded (Hint 1). Test the Expand function from the QRV (Hint 2).

Enable and Define Expandability:

  1. Ensure that QLM is open and that you are in the Base Configuration
  2. In the Repository Explorer Views in the lower left corner, click HTML to change the repository view to display only templates related to the web front-end
  3. In the Repository Explorer, double-click on HTMLQueryResultView “Activity Overview” to open its property dialog
  4. In the property dialog of HTMLQueryResultView “Activity Overview” navigate to the tab “Explorer”->”Explorer Grid Settings”
  5. For the field “Grid parameters” edit the parameters as follows:
    1. Expandable: true
    2. ExpandContent: {{<b>Short description:</b><br/>}}{ShortDescription}
  6. Click Apply to save your changes without closing the property dialog for HTMLQueryResultView “Activity Overview”

Test the Expand Function: 

  1. Open the web front-end
  2. Click “My Menu”->”Activity Overview”
  3. The HTMLQueryResultView “Activity Overview” should open
  4. For each Activity in the QRV, on the left side, locate the expand triangle
  5. Click the expand triangle to reveal the short description for Activity “Control Driver’s License”
Each activity can now be expanded to show its Short description.

Set an Initial Sorting Order and Paging Size for QRV

Purpose: Understand how to configure the initial sorting order and paging for a HTMLQueryResultView.

Task: Edit the properties of HTMLQueryResultView “Activity Overview” and change the initial sorting order (Hint 1). Change the paging size from 20 to 50 (Hint 2).

  • 50 Activities should be shown per page on the QRV

Change the Initial Sorting Order:

  1. Ensure that QLM is open and that you are in the Base Configuration
  2. In the Repository Explorer Views in the lower left corner, click HTML to change the repository view to display only templates related to the web front-end
  3. In the Repository Explorer, double-click on HTMLQueryResultView “Activity Overview” to open its property dialog
  4. In the property dialog of HTMLQueryResultView “Activity Overview” navigate to the tab “Explorer”->”Explorer Parameters”
  5. For the field “Initial Sorting Order” right-click and click “OwnedBy”
  6. For the field “Initial Sorting Order” drag the paramter “OwnedBy” to the top of the list
  7. Click Apply to save your changes without closing the property dialog for HTMLQueryResultView “Activity Overview”

See your changes:

  1. Open the web front-end
  2. Click “My Menu”->”Activity Overview”
  3. The HTMLQueryResultView “Activity Overview” should open
  4. Ensure that Activity “Control Driver’s License” now appears at the top of the list

Change the Paging Size:

  1. Ensure that QLM is open and that you are in the Base Configuration
  2. In the Repository Explorer Views in the lower left corner, click HTML to change the repository view to display only templates related to the web front-end
  3. In the Repository Explorer, double-click on HTMLQueryResultView “Activity Overview” to open its property dialog
  4. In the property dialog of HTMLQueryResultView “Activity Overview” navigate to the tab “Explorer”->”Explorer Parameters”
  5. For the field “Paging size” use the drop-down to select 50
  6. Click Apply to save your changes without closing the property dialog for HTMLQueryResultView “Activity Overview”

See your changes:

  1. Open the web front-end
  2. Click “My Menu”->”Activity Overview”
